This Week in Congress

The House considered the Senate-revised version of the appropriations minibus, along with legislation (H.R. 4090) aimed at improving access to critical minerals. Additionally, the House voted on H.J. Res. 142, a resolution disapproving of a D.C. law that decouples the city’s tax code from provisions included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The House addressed the Clinton contempt resolutions.

Additionally, the House considered four bills related to veterans’ benefits, which focus on improving services and support for veterans and the chamber debated two bills out of the Judiciary Committee, one authorizing a new presidential medal of sacrifice and the other facilitating the relocation of a Civil War women’s group.

Meanwhile, the Senate considered several administration nominees. These votes are part of the Senate’s typical process for confirming individuals appointed by the President to various positions within the administration.
