The FY 26 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)

The Senate overcame a month-long impasse on the annual NDAA last week by agreeing on the number of standalone amendments to receive a vote. The chamber accepted some of those amendments and passed the underlying bill (S. 2296) last Thursday evening.

Because the Senate bill differs from the version of the NDAA passed in the House in September, the House and Senate Armed Services Committees will negotiate a compromise version. House Committee Chairman Rogers (R-AL) says he would like to see a final bill passed out of both chambers by Thanksgiving. The NDAA frequently serves as a vehicle for enactment of non-military legislative provisions.
