This Week in Congress

The House voted on the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill, while the Senate and House attempted to finalize a $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation bill.  Congress must pass a temporary government funding measure to avoid a government shutdown after September 30th.  On Monday night, Speaker Pelosi said it was “no longer feasible to pass the reconciliation bill before the bipartisan infrastructure bill.” Moderate House and Senate Democrats insist that the $3.5 trillion contained in the budget reconciliation bill must be reduced. House and Senate Democrats are in sync that they want to pass the same bill and per Speaker Pelosi, “we are not going to pass a bill that won’t pass the Senate.”
