This Week in Congress

The Senate returned for a two-day session this week, facing immediate decisions on preventing a government shutdown and deciding the fate of their $3.5 Trillion Budget Reconciliation Bill. The legislative session from now until December could be the last realistic chance at legislating before the 2022 election year.  A myriad of deadlines will dominate the weeks ahead, including the outcome of the reconciliation bill, the consideration and passage of the Senate-passed bipartisan infrastructure bill, and a pending vote on a continuing resolution to fund the government that could suspend or raise the statutory debt limit.
