This Week in Congress

On Thursday, the Senate recessed for two weeks, while the House is in town through next week before leaving until July 19. The House voted on three Congressional Review Act resolutions that would overturn rules issued by the Trump Administration regarding the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's conciliation process (S J Res 13), methane emissions (S J Res 14) and predatory lending (S J Res 15).  Off the floor, members on appropriations subcommittees began considering FY22 spending bills.  Also, the House considered legislation relating to discrimination against older workers (HR 2062), contraception coverage for veterans (HR 239) and small-business loan data related to LGBTQ-owned businesses (HR 1443).  The Senate considered more of President Biden’s nominees before teeing up a bill to overhaul voting policies known as the For the People Act (S.1).
