This Week In Congress

Congress remains consumed by the fallout from the attack on the U.S. Capitol last Wednesday, January 6th.  To that end, the House passed legislation that would direct Vice President Pence to convene the cabinet to initiate the 25th Amendment removing President Trump from office.  Vice President Pence opposed this legislation; thereby, the House passed for the second time impeachment legislation against President Trump.  House Minority Leader McCarthy opposes the impeachment efforts and stated that the two parties should instead work together to facilitate the peaceful transfer of power to the Biden administration.  The Senate is scheduled to return to Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, January 19th.
