The Trump Administration Pauses ICE Raids – May Impact Construction!

The Trump Administration paused ICE raids targeting farms, hotels, and restaurants due to opposition from Capitol Hill and the President’s Cabinet. However, no exemption was mentioned for the construction industry, which employs many immigrant workers. While few ICE raids have occurred in construction so far, there have been sporadic incidents like the one in Tallahassee on May 29th where over 100 undocumented individuals were detained. We will continue to prepare our members for potential increases in enforcement actions. Additionally, we hope federal spending will support vocational skills training amid persistent worker shortages. The administration could alleviate these shortages by creating legal entry pathways for construction workers.
