This Week in Congress
The House recessed last Thursday and will not return until August 31. The Senate is in session for two more weeks. The Senate returned this week to confirmation votes over the next two weeks on a slate of administration nominees, including Jay Clayton to be the Director of National Intelligence. They also plan to move a bill championed by late-Sen. Graham (R-SC) that would impose new sanctions on Russia and continue sanctions on Iran currently set to expire at the end of the year (S. 5025). Leader Thune offered initial procedural votes this week on a bill to fund the government past the end of the current fiscal year, and the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (H.R. 3633), a bill to establish a regulatory framework for digital assets.
