This Week in Congress

This week, the Senate is not in session and the House has no floor schedule; however, House Democrats began work on their budget reconciliation portions of President Biden’s $3.5 trillion economic relief plan.  The House Ways and Means Committee, along with the House Education and Labor, Science, Natural Resources, and Agriculture Committees worked on their portions of the plan with the goal of having it completed by September 30th allowing for the final passage of the Senate’s $550 billion bipartisan infrastructure bill.  Finally, the House Democratic Leadership is crafting one of the most complex tax and spending bills ever contemplated that will impact every area of the budget and tax code.
