This Week in Congress

The Senate voted on a broad bill to boost U.S. competition with China and secure technology supply chains, and considered more of President Biden’s nominees.   On Wednesday, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee considered its surface transportation reauthorization bill, a bipartisan measure to support $304 billion for highway, road and bridge projects.  The House had no floor votes planned this week amid a busy hearing and markup schedule that included testimony from multiple Cabinet secretaries on fiscal 2022 budget requests, ahead of the planned release of President Biden’s first full budget on Friday.  Congress will depart for the Memorial Day recess Friday, with the House not scheduled to return for another committee work week until June 7th and no votes planned until June 14th. The Senate returns the week of June 7th.
