ASA President’s Letter—November
Dear ASA Members,
Maybe you didn’t know this, or maybe you just haven’t given it much thought, but ASA’s annual convention is not just for ASA board of directors and leaders. Of course, we have to participate in SUBExcel 2018, which will take place Feb. 28-March 3, 2018, at Tempe Mission Palms in Tempe, Ariz., as part of our obligation as leaders of the Association and because we hold our national board of directors and other business and task force meetings in conjunction with the convention. But, SUBExcel is really designed for ASA members. It’s loaded with general sessions and education workshops specifically geared toward helping you improve your business. I can tell you, I’ve brought a lot of great ideas, techniques, methods and advice back to my own company year after year, and the convention continues to provide my company with great value!
Just this past March at SUBExcel 2017 in Denver, there were so many great sessions, workshops and panel discussions. One of the most surprising sessions was Dr. Jerry Teplitz’s “Increasing Your Professional and Leadership Power to New Levels of Excellence.” I admit, I was a bit skeptical, because the session was all about the mental and physiological aspects of the power of positivity. But we learned some interesting techniques to help us increase our energy level and be more creative and productive. Also, the keynote session by Redmond Ramos, an amputee veteran and athlete, was very inspirational as he spoke about “Success Through Struggle,” something we all, as subcontractors, experience on a daily basis.
SUBExcel 2018 in Tempe will feature completely different speakers and education workshops, but the schedule is shaping up, and I am really looking forward to it. If you want to be the first to learn about the speakers and education program when this information becomes available, send an email to email@example.com, and you’ll be added to a VIP list.
You can register online for SUBExcel 2018 and make your hotel reservations in the ASA room block at Tempe Mission Palms on the ASA Web site, or simply enter at www.subexcel.com.
I hope you will join me for the ASA President’s Welcome Reception, which will also be hosted by ASA of Arizona, on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 28. The reception will be the first of many networking opportunities planned throughout the convention. See you there!
2017-18 ASA President
