Workforce & Professional Development

Construction subcontractors employ millions of people in the United States, including laborers, equipment and vehicle operators, foremen, project managers, estimators, controllers, contract administrators, IT personnel, operations managers, and others. Providing a safe and healthy workplace, and appropriate training and professional development, is the foundation of a successful subcontracting firm.

In Brief

ASA is subcontractors' voice on issues ranging from safety to worker documentation before Congress, the courts, and agencies like the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. It submits comments on proposed changes to laws and rules and offers education and events for subcontractors nationwide through in-person meetings and online education webinars. ASA also endorses third-party certificate and certification programs like Constructor Certification that support the professional development of specialty trade contractors and their employees.
