ASA President Honors Mitch Claborn with President’s Award
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — American Subcontractors Association President Kerrick Whisenant honored Mitch Claborn, Cornerstone Detention Products Inc., Tanner, Ala., with the ASA President’s Award on March 2 during ASA’s annual meeting in conjunction with the ASA Business Forum and Convention 2012 in San Antonio.
The ASA President’s Award is given by the current ASA president on a discretionary basis to an individual who has helped the president the most during his term.
“If anything within ASA is credited to me, it’s also credited to him,” said Whisenant, Cornerstone Detention Products Inc., Tanner, Ala. “Since I am not a principal in my company, the time I am able to give ASA is not 100 percent mine. Much of the time and all of the travel is credited to Cornerstone — a company with someone who doesn’t just own the business and is a boss, but is family to me.”
Claborn drives people to be better and not settle for the status quo, Whisenant said. “In both words and actions, Mitch is a mentor who has never been more consistent over the past 16 years about his desire to see me succeed,” Whisenant said. “I am very thankful for the opportunity I have had to serve as your president. The experience and education is invaluable. But without the dedication, determination, and convictions of Mitch Claborn, it would have never been possible.”
